Most of my observations are from the 3 acre patch of land where I live. I advocate for natural landscaping to support wildlife, clean water and biodiverse soil, serve as a mentor for the Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee, a volunteer with The Land Conservancy of McHenry County and enjoy birding with McHenry County Audubon.

I have been preserving and adding woodland, prairie and wetland native plants to our property for over 25 years and use iNaturalist to chronicle all of the life that surrounds the area that I call home. I maintain checklists in eBird to record the birds that visit. Living in agreement with nature has been rewarding, and these community scientist databases have helped me quantify just how much. Beginning August, 2021 I will also be recording observations at a property managed by The Land Conservancy of McHenry County on Dean Street in Woodstock. Initial observations are associated with an iNaturalist place called 'Apple Creek Community Food Forest'. The property contains a wetland restoration area adjacent to a planned Permaculture Community Food Forest designed to demonstrate a diverse and healthy land use alternative for corn and soybean crop land.
