Endemic plants on the Cape Peninsula

I started a traditional project for our U3A Fynbos Rambles. Only 3 of us are active iNatters.

Stats sorted by the month observed as we work back adding our obs. We are over 500 species already.

For a fresh challenge I found a list of our endemic flora - 158 species.

Article by @botaneek (I don't recognise the second author from iNat?)
The endemic flora of the Cape Peninsula, South Africa - N.A. Helme, T.H. Trinder-Smith - South African Journal of Botany - 2006. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S025462990500030X

Since our moderately fit group walks around and along, rather than up our mountains - we will not find 'everything' on that list. But it will be interesting to retrieve what we have seen, and find what we could still see.

July's Fynbos Rambles

Typical Cape Winter the way it used to be. Cold. And wet. We got only 2 hikes.
https://eefalsebay.blogspot.com/2024/08/july-fynbos-rambles-elsies-and-noordhoek-peaks%20.html

We have a Fynbos Rambles on the Cape Peninsula project on iNaturalist. As we work back adding observations from our hikes, we have 570 species. 483 plants, including 35 Peninsula Endemics. 73 assorted animals including 52 arthropods. 12 mushrooms and lichen.

Now I can use the tools iNat has to offer!
