A group hiked the road to the forest boundary. I was lucky to be there and learn from Bill, the leader and so many others about the soil, plants, and ecology. We observed the Arctostaphylos luciana and A. glandulosa. Also Tanoak, Coulter Pine, Knobcone Pine, and a hybrid of the two! I learned better how to identify the oak named Quercus wislizeni. Join CNPS-SLO and attend the next Manzanita hike for bontanizing, conversation, fresh air, and exercise!
maybe the leaf bundle on the ground lost one?
I'm told this individual is a cross between Pinus coulteti and P. attenuata.
The pappus are white, but I didn't have a chance to check the percentage plumose.

Dave and Cindy (and all), it was nice to meet you.
The illustrated plant list on Calflora is nice to use. It is helpful to see at a glance, a photo, and what is an annual or not. We obseved an Acmispon, and it was possibly Acmispon junceus var. biolettii.
