Habitat(s) - Just from the parking lot, which was surrounded by tall grasses and some shrubs next to the road, I found Ring-billed Gulls, Eastern Kinglets, and Eastern Towhees. I started walking down the main trail along the large main field under the power lines and saw and heard Field Sparrows, a Northern Harrier, Yellow Warblers, Common Yellowthroats, Turkey Vultures, and American Crows. In the small wetland area around the stream under the power lines I found Blue Jays, Northern Cardinals, and Red-winged Blackbirds. I turned back down the trail and started in the other direction from the parking lot through denser shrubs and woods. Here I saw American Goldfinches, Red-eyed Vireos, Brown Thrashers, and Tufted Titmice. Eventually I came to the barn, which was surrounded by tall grasses mixed with spots of shrubs. In this area I saw Gray Catbirds, Chestnut-sided Warblers, Eastern Phoebes, Black-capped Chickadees, and Barn Swallows.
three or four individuals seen flying overheard in field
lots of individuals seen throughout park, mostly landing on the tall grasses in the main field or on the ground.
heard mostly in shrubby area near stream. Two different individuals seen, one on shrub near stream and another seen in shrubby area at the edge of the inner field in the park. Both were males.
Heard calling in main field under power lines.
This might not be correct, but it was a larger hawk-like bird flying low over the large field under the power lines, and I know this is a harrier-type habitat. It definitely was not a vulture and it seemed to be too dark underneath to be any of the hawks I know. If it is a harrier, then it's probably female or immature. Unfortunately, I got too distracted staring at it to try to get a picture.
Heard singing throughout park. One female landed on a small shrubby bush near marshy area and sang for a while before flying off into the brush.
one or two heard calling in tall grasses in marshy area around stream.
One individual seen flying over large main field under power lines.
A few heard singing in shrubby area diving two fields. Male and female seen quickly on branches in denser wooded area.
Whole group of jays seen calling (piping notes and jay calls). Group would fly back and forth across shrubby area next to stream.
Heard singing in denser shrubby area between fields.
Heard singing in densely wooded area between fields.
Heard cawing throughout park and a few were seen flying over the fields. Another was being chased by a small robin-size bird, maybe a Red-winged Blackbird.
Heard singing in shrubby areas between fields. Two different individuals seen landing on smaller branches and singing then flying away.
"Drink you teaaa" song heard in parking lot.
Heard singing in denser vegetation, in woods around field.
At least one, maybe two, seen and heard singing perched on top of a tree in small path of shrubs in the middle of a field.
Group living either in or around barn on property, possibly also in bird boxes a little up the trail from the barn. Birds would quickly fly in to barn and fly out just as quickly.
Heard singing throughout park, mostly in open shrubby areas, not open field or denser shrubs.
At least two phoebes living in barn on property. One was seen, another was heard outside barn.
