Description: The cap of this large species is dark brown in colour with tiny pyramidal-spinose scales on the cap surface. Mature fruit bodies can have a cap size up to about 10 cm in diameter. The gills are beige-pink with a dark edge. The stipe has dark fibrils covering the entire length.
Abundance: Rarely observed in the Mangemangeroa Reserve.
Large dark capped Pluteus with a 'granular' surface with tiny pyramidal-spinose scales. Cap 9.4 cm in diameter and 7.5 cm in height. The gills are pink-beige with a dark edge. The stipe has a light covering of dark fibres along the entire length. Remnant mature coastal broadleaf forest.
Growing on large fallen rotting log in remnant of mature mountain beech forest.
