I am an assistant professor and paleobotanist at the University of Connecticut. A geologist by training, but in both research and my personal interest end up studying plants a lot. In particular, I study ancient plant - environment interactions, which is aided by understanding how modern plants interact with the climate. I have a particular fondness of palms, but they obviously don't grow (yet) in New England. Exploring ferns and ancient plant lineages is what I enjoy doing when out and about in nature. Always looking to improve my IDs.
