I am an professional entomologist. I am also passionate about photography, and I have recently joined iNaturalist to learn more about the insects I see in my neighborhood and surroundings, as well as to improve my macro photography skills. What a fun experience!

Since I am now based in Germany, most of my identifications are based on kerbtier.de. I am also the curator of the beetle's collection of the Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut, and whenever possible, I cross-check the identifications with material in the collection.

While my main interests are on Lycidae and Lampyridae, I am generally interested in any beetles that I see. If I see other pretty and interesting insects I will photograph them too.
