I have strong interests in lichen taxonomy and systematics, conservation biology, and botanical history, with emphasis on the islands of Puerto Rico. Research-wise, I combine taxonomic approaches with phylogenetic comparative methods to study diversity patterns and historical biogeography of lichenized fungi in the Caribbean. I am particularly interested in understanding the origin and maintenance of endemic distributions in these intriguing organisms.
