Floracliff Nature Sanctuary is a privately owned State Nature Preserve that was founded by Dr. Mary E. Wharton. This preserve is one of the few remaining mature second growth forests in Central Kentucky. Nestled within the Palisades region of the Kentucky River, this preserve provides a lush site for an array of wildflowers and a diverse tree population, a few of which are the oldest documented trees in Kentucky. Enjoy this compilation of some of the biodiversity found within Floracliff. We will continue to add species and observations.
