Visit to Houghton Garden
I walked around Houghton Garden today and saw some pretty zesty organisms living there. I went in the afternoon when it was still sunny and the temperature was a chilly 53°C. My initial plan was to find the first edible truffle species in New England so that I could spice up the pasta I have in my fridge, but I was unsuccessful. Instead, I found a wide variety of fungi on damp branches or stumps. Some of they were really moldy, others were hard and smelly. On another note, I did find some spores growing on a branch! They were light yellow and tiny and somehow I dropped them all over my sweatpants :/. For the most part, it was good visit to the garden and I found a variety of fungi.
