PS would be eaten by tortoises - so - no tortoises here between suburbia and fire ? Not many obs!
Milkweed family. Climber. Hairy. Fleshy oval leaves. Twirly burgundy bits are petals. White is a deep narrow crown / corona.
Usually see just the one plant along this stretch. Mother and baby this year.

Leaves SO dark purple they are almost black
