I'm thinking this is maybe X. dryophilus given the habitat and abundant growth of that species in the area at the time, but the light brownish cap is throwing me off (it's so different from the other X. dryophilus specimens I had found that day). Oak (mostly Q. agrifolia) riparian habitat.
Growing in a small meadow in an oak forest; to old for its scent to be discernible.
Growing from Catalina ironwood; coastal chaparral habitat; I have found O. olivascens fruiting from this exact tree for at least 4 years now.
