I was leading some birders on a field trip today at a birding festival in Laredo, Texas. The photos I took are mostly from a long distance and cropped signficantly but should be identifiable.

for those of you in the eastern half of the U.S. where Red-bellied Woodpecker is common, thought I'd post a few shots of its closely related cousin, the Golden-fronted Woodpecker. This mature male is working over the feeders in my backyard and allowed some detail shots of its distinctive head patterns and plumage.
Valentines Day Sunrise Photo Hike to Cattail Pond. I had 15 people with me this morning... ready to start hiking at 6:30 am we arrived at Cattail pond to find steam rising from the pond, a collection of ducks,and a great Egret. We were serenaded by this wren as the sun crested over the hill
it is either a carolina or bewick wren
I believe it is a yellow-crowned night heron. Can someone confirm?

This Northern Cardinal spent over 1 minute attacking his reflection in the hood of my car i managed to capture it on video clip . it was very entertaining I can only post a few stills for you taken through my dirty windshield but I did manage to take a few photos of him afterwards when he flew to a nearby tree
Large body, back and top of wings and brown, bottom of wings are white, white belly, dark patch on wrists, white head with brown stripe across the eye.
This immature Cooper's was perched about 100 yards away out in desert habitat. I watched it chase a small bird unsuccessfully.
10 am. small flock of monk parakeets, once again, visiting the trees in and around my backyard
sunrise hike to cattail pond on the morning of Christmas eve.
I was rewarded by a Great Egret who flew in to fish for breakfast shortly after sunrise
flock of about 500 Canada Geese passed overhead
