juvenile in ridgetop regen kauri forest margin, at head of gully
the only image on this occasion, sorry, as I didn't notice it while doing a general survey and weed assessment (my focus at time of this record was the pink Jasmine on the hangehange in the foreground)
For scale, the double-folded leaves behind it are mature kiekie
upper left - juvenile under tanekaha in moderately diverse regen kauri forest on steep bank above stream
a few runners in dry ground along boundary fence and wall, some uprooted but deeper remaining embedded under the fence
sporeling in kauri and tanekaha litter with kawakawa seedlings
about 1.3m H. All leaves 3-lobed
I seldom see pure crassifolius juveniles in either bush reserves or gardens nowadays, but I think this is one?
In kauri forest adjoining, or on, a remnant kauri forest reserve
seedlings among Pseudopanax juveniles, under rawirinui
weed seedling uprooted, interestingly just these two seedlings here in deep mulch in ornamental garden with monkey apple hedge; the other seedling looks like Virginia creeper or possibly an ivy
wild cherry seedling - Japanese or Taiwanese? - in moderately diverse regen kauri forest on steep bank above stream
suppressed by partially severing stems and folding down. For repeat as needed till root dies or can be uprooted
pale trunks foreground right
just right of centre, the two remaining standing trunks of "twinFT", with the split and fallen trunk forming an arch towards the camera. All reachable regrowth has recently been bent down or partially severed
in centre near foreground; juvenile released from pampas and blackberry in June 2019, helping fill this bare spot between regen kauri forest margin (background) and recreational mown grass field (cordoned off at left of frame)
in foreground, ground-covering with Oplismenus hirtellus
Growing wild in the middle of Typha
Escaping through fence
