Podostemaceae plant on rapids in a seasonally flooded bit of the Essequibo River
Aquatic plant with bright green, branching submerged vegetation and small, beautiful flowers just above the water. Small, quiet stream through forest and near a bridge.
This is a root parasite that produces no chlorophyll.. usually around 10cm

I moved the moss away but there were no leaves.
Planta perene com rizoma rasteiro, fixado as rochas submersas a uma profundidade de até 50 cm. Possui folhas grandes e rígidas de 5 a 35 cm de comprimento. Inflorescências de 9 a 20 cm de comprimento com numerosas flores de coloração rosada. Pequenos moluscos pertencentes ao gênero Potamolithus, vivem sobre estas plantas, de cujas folhas se alimentam e onde, possivelmente, depositam seus ovos. O exemplar da foto foi encontrado próximo à Ilha das Taquaras, no Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, Brasil.
