It resembles a member of the Erechthias genus. It seems to have lost one of its wing 'flaps'. The one on the left side can be best seen in photo 4.
Got-em. Saw eight in total. A little 20km walk round trip from Woodville.
Excellent spot with numerous decent Olearia virgata, which are on a steep slope and not in water, muddy seepage, bog etc.
And this time the conditions were good. Light to no winds in the valleys, high cloud which cleared entirely, relatively warm night (no gloves needed!)
Will add more shots when I get home.
Note to self - never photograph moths in an orange gazebo!
wouId epyaxa need some form of 'second' patterning on the Iower edge of the wing (ie stripe or spots? any more variations?)
