Locally common on bank under native broadleaved forest
Common on the margins of a shallow peaty 'pond' (site often called Hapupu Lagoons). Growing with Myriophyllum triphyllum, Limosella australis, Isolepis cernua, I. basilaris, Callitriche chathamensis and other marginal turf plants.
Just posting in case someone can tell if it’s a plague or copper skink without being able to clearly see the scales
What's browsing these leaves? There are hundreds of manawa seedlings with bite marks on their leaves. I suspect a bird; herbivorous birds that are seen in the lagoon include geese, black swan, pukeko, mallard and shellduck.
