Thames block, prescribed burn 2016, approx. 7.5 year old regrown after fire & not gone to flower or fruit again since.
Maybe. Most likely. Close to Mongers Lake on Dune ...? E. loxophleba subsp. supralaevis?
A group of these trees are growing in amongst Wandoo and Jarrah, with a few Marri too, on a lateritic breakaway.
The bark is very loose, grey and shedding, from trunk through to most of the branches. Under the shed bark, there is smooth cream coloured bark. Leaves are a darker green than Wandoo, some leaves quite rounded, others narrower, typical eucalyptus shaped, yet more lancate than the Wandoo.
There seems to be a lot of insect damage to leaves on branchlets, possibly due to the repeated dry seasons and tree stress. While the wandoo trees in this section have all uniformally flowered and fruited over the last year, and are coming back into bud again, I could find only one of the other, rougher barked trees, that was coming into bud and there were no fruits that I could see.
Flowers approx 1cm in width, leaves are red. Centre of flower is yellow. Sweet honeysuckle scent.
