First adult monarch I have seen this year in my yard. She oviposited, too, on one stem in my backyard patch of planted showy milkweed.

Continuing along the Mt Pisgah summit trail about 0.4 miles from the west trailhead, first reported here by other birders on May 21, singing and conspicuous.

Observed spending time in maple tree and in lupinus rivularis plant. The monarch flew around my milkweed patch but did not lay any eggs that I have found yet.

Seen right in the middle of the bike path in sunny dry 60 degree weather.
Very slow to move but seemed otherwise fine

maybe. On elk dung, spores narrowly ellipsoidal, 22.1 - 23.5 x 8.5 - 9.2. Hairs mostly over 600um long.

Inside see through casing. Alive. Many of them scattered throughout beach. Some just had eggs inside them. Open from both ends.

Flowering were observed from mid April to mid May 2021
