I stepped on a very rotten log and this is what I discovered. It was poking out of the log in several places and intrigued me.
It was on a leaf that had food for the slime mold to eat. It was bright yellow and was most likely so visible because of the damp conditions created by weeks of rain.
I was walking through a path alongside a gravel road and happened upon this tree. It was a beautiful tree, but I had never seen it before in the area. It's petals were long and thin with a whitish pigmentation. The leaves were dark green and had a pointed tip. It was growing in a relatively shaded area.
