Today a group of Virginia Tech students, Virginia Tech professor - Kevin Hamed, Tennessee State University professor - Bill Sutton, TDEC State Zoologist - David Withers, and Metro Park staff, studied Poplar Creek to check out how our population of the state endangered Streamside Salamander, ambystoma barbouri, are doing.

Bells Bend Park currently holds the westernmost population in Tennessee. Up until today, larvae and eggs had been spotted multiple times but never an adult. Today TWO adults were found!
