On this day, Bill George led a field trip to Alligator Lake (Columbia County, Florida), which was attended by myself and 4 other birders. We had good weather for birding, as we arrived after the rain stopped and left before it resumed. What luck! 🍀

My favorite species of the day was a Ruddy Duck.

My favorite photo of the day was this grackle, who was busy squabbling with another male as I approached—grackles never fail to entertain.

There were numerous BCNH on nests today, and several that were not yet on nests. Most were paired up regardless of whether or not on a nest, but several were by themselves, including a couple on nests. There may now be as many as 20 BCNH in this wading bird rookery.
