Two newborns and their mother. We slowed down to let them cross the street, but one was curious and came up to sniff our tire. The mother was very freaked out and ran towards the trees. One of the fawns followed her, but the other remained curious. She looked like she might leave it, but I scared the newborn off with some clapping and they all went into the woods together.

This is the "Slate-colored" sub-race found at high elevation in this part of southern BC. I've attached an audio file of the bird singing at :04 and :14 seconds. The other bird song competes in volume with the Fox Sparrow.
