Body is about 2 inches long. After my dog spent a minute sniffing it, it started walking away and even fought back and exposed its wings when my dog kept following. Insect is unharmed, I watched my dog only sniff.

Bioquip blacklight set up with the campground hookups at Mitchell's Landing Campground in Big Cypress (only one or two of the sockets had power). I spent more time photographing the other sheet with the little cheapy DJ blacklightings, mostly because I ran out of time (I got here a lot later than I should have).

The main highlight tonight was the large amount of imperial moths and Anisota (oakworm moths) that came to the sheet. I had never seen either species this far south (imperial moth was actually a lifer for me). I saw at least 6 in total of the imperials and around the same amount of Anisota moths. I was here three weeks ago and did not see a single imperial or anisota moth! The rainy season has definitely picked up since then so I wonder if that was a factor..

I have no idea if I'm even correct. I am not a spider expert. It has a red back, but also yellow on the sides. As you can see, it is resting on a cactus. It has spun a web over it and further down. If it's venomous, I'll definitely keep my distance and respect the animal like any other.
