I need a hand with this one.
Habitat: Found by a friend on soil under trees. Not in fresh condition but not totally dry.
No sporeprint yet.
Pilius: 10 cm dia. Texture similar to Calbovista subsculpta (www.mykoweb.com).
Hymenium: deep pores.
Flesh: firm like most in the Genus Boletus, white with dark brown toward the base. No distinct transiton of geometry from cap to stem.
No reticulation where hymenium transitions to stipe. Distorted pore mouths occur but they're deep, not shallow like the reticulation I'm familiar with.
Odor: maple syrup. It's beginning to pervade the room like a candy cap.
