This is the third monarch I have seen this year but only the first one I was able to photograph, as poor of a photo as it is. In the right center - the best shot I was able to get. It was very mobile and moving erratically. The second photo is zoomed and cropped of the Monarch. Probably not good enough for an ID but hopefully better than none for my first of the season.
Turtle was crossing the trail. Egg laying? The problem is, there is a fence where it crossed.

I surveyed Coyote Pond looking for native Western Pond Turtles. Mostly I found Pond Sliders. Entering all these to get a document the populations.
This Monarch was alive and healthy. It landed on the lawn next to the sidewalk, allowed me to take these photos, then took off. Not sure what it was doing.
