San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge

The purpose of this particular project is as an educational adjunct to the Earth Discovery Institute's student outreach program, Ecology Meets Technology. Students, educators, scientists, and the general public will observe and document the flora and fauna of South San Diego Bay estuary habitats, including coastal sage scrub, mudflats, salt marshes, shallow subtidal waters, and intertidal areas. The watershed includes the inflow of Otay River, Sweetwater River, and salt ponds. The south end of the bay contains more than 90 percent of the historic intertidal habitat and provides key nesting ground for birds. menos ↑
