This project allows local community members to mark sightings of animal species, in order to see what species are in the area, and take a role in monitoring the biodiversity within the canyon preserve. Species such as mountain lions and bobcats are an excellent indicator species, that show us if we are succeeding in providing enough open space and wildlife corridors for these megafauna to successfully survive within San Diego County. Species such as frogs are indicator species for the health of the preserve. By monitoring the species within the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve and surrounding neighborhoods we can determine if our community is offering sufficient space, and healthy environments for species within the Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve and San Diego County. menos ↑
