Join us on April 30th at Cleburne State Park for an exciting BioBlitz event, hosted by the park and Texas State Park Ambassador program.
Nature lovers of all ages and expertise are welcome! Bring your smart phone, camera, binoculars, etc. We’ll participate in some awesome citizen science with local Master Naturalists and Friends of Cleburne group. A Bioblitz is an intensive one-day study of biodiversity in a specific location, bringing scientists and volunteer citizen-scientists together. Together, we’ll look for snails, birds, mammals, frogs, butterflies, other insects, spiders, trees, worms, flowers, and everything else we can find!
The project is open from 12:01am to 11:59pm, so all observations during the day (and night) are welcome. The official event begins at 10am in the breezeway at Cedar Lodge. Please check-in with staff and sign the volunteer sheet. We'll have a few specialty hikes listed with times and locations.
Wrap-up session begins at 1pm. There is wifi for you to connect to and upload the images. Many spots on the trail are impossible to connect to internet. You are welcome to bring a laptop for your SD cards as well. We even have a few fun prizes to give out!!!
The event ends at 2pm, but you are welcome to stay longer to continue exploring and making observations of this beautiful park.
Things to remember:
-
Park entry is free for volunteers! Let the ranger know you're joining the event and entry fee is waived!
-
Pack a picnic lunch and plenty of water. We will have some snacks available.
