This project is revolving around the effort to re-wild a 3/4 acre suburban lot that was full of exotics, invasives, and neglected landscaping. For over a decade now we have have been removing the invasive and non-native plants like chinese privet, english ivy, liriope, mahonia, etc. We slowly reduced the size of the front lawn until it was gone, replaced by violets that quickly sprouted in the leaf duff. We have added bird feeders, water features, a pollinator garden, and native trees. I am trying to document the organisms as they repopulate the property. First thing we noticed was the return of lighting bugs.
