I reside in Palm Beach County here in Southeast Florida. Our Florida natural areas sometimes get targeted for golf courses, car racetracks, warehouses, and development. Fortunately, there is strong support among the public to protect land for nature and hiking. There are many natural areas within a 100-mile radius of my house that I have not explored yet. I am a veteran. I was a medic paratrooper (jumped out of planes). I have been in Florida since 1986. I made wildlife photography my hobby in 2016. I am married. My wife loves butterflies, just not where they live. I am a weekend hiker (work F/T at a desk job M-F) out looking for animals in natural areas. I have my favorite places that I do my best to get back to every so often, but the good news is there are so many preserves, parks, and natural areas I have yet to visit. Going to a new place always heightens my sense of adventure. I most enjoy seeing how many animal species I can photograph at a place and also helping get a new place on the map. I am trying to reach 1,000 animal species in South Florida and so far, I have made it to 631.
