Long Island Cranberry Bog (Riverhead)
My first solo hunt for Schizaea pusilla on eastern Long Island
~60 degrees by 1 p.m. Strange for mid/late February
- 2 hrs in the field, most of which were off trail by damp Juniperous, peering into mosses and Lychophytes
- Ticks were out. Plucked 3 off my clothes
- Minimal invasive Plantae
- Phragmites australis was contained
- No cranberry in fruit
- Tried to log anything that was not a Pinus to assess diversity amongst Long Island Pine Barrens
- Did not find S. pusilla
