The checkered garter snake, Thamnophis marcianus, is a species of garter snake endemic to the southern United States, Mexico and Central America.
Range description

Range extends from southeastern California, southern Arizona, New Mexico, and southern Kansas south through the southwestern United States to northern and central Mexico (Zacatecas and northern Veracruz), and disjunctly through southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, at elevations from near sea level to 2,200 meters (Rossman et al. 1996, Stebbins 2003).
