Description 2

This species grows as a terrestrial, lithophyte and sometimes epiphytically. Medium-sized perennial herb. The leaf blades of Anthurium sagittatum are dark green and semi-glossy to weakly glossy on the upper (adaxial) surface but substantially paler and matte on the underside (abaxial surface). The leaves stand erect. The upper surface may be a mixture of velvety and matte (sub-velvety) and are subcoriaceous as well as somewhat papyraceous (papery). Subcoriaceous indicates the blades are just less than leathery to the touch while coriaceous indicates the leaves are thick.
Anthurium species are bisexual. The taxon is pollinated by male euglossine bees.

Habitat Type 2

Very wide range of mesic habitats from 100 to 2,800 m asl and over 19 ecoregions. The taxon has been collected in shaded and open, primary/secondary, lowland/montane/cloud, evergreen/semi-deciduous forests, on terra firme/seasonally flooded, often on river banks, by creeks, in marshes, swamps and other riparian sites.
