Habitat Type 2

This species has been found in several ecoregions, with the most specimens coming from the montane forests of Magdalena Valley and Northwestern Andes, and Northern Andean paramo, and others from montane forests in Cauca Valley and the Eastern Cordillera. These forests are humid and wet, becoming cloud forests at higher elevations. The paramo links the mountain treeline to the snowline, and consists of grasslands, bogs and meadows. One collector recorded this orchid 'growing on banks with lichen and small shrubs, in the full sun'. The orchid is said to be short-lived, despite appearing robust. Specimen data suggest suitable altitudes of 1,800 – 3,000m.
