Range Countries: Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Bolivarian Republic of.

Native from northeastern Colombia to northwestern Venezuela. One collection has been made from Peru, however the presence within Peru has never been reconfirmed by a subsequent collection.

The one collection of this species from Peru was made in 1956 in what is now the country's largest national park, the 1.5 million ha Manu National Park.

The taxon has been collected from cloud forest and growing prostrate in moss of humus in shady woods.
