Altensteinia longispicata

Location 2

Endemic to Peru.

Collected originally at the border of Ancash/Huánuco border (in the Marañón basin) and then later confirmed for the western side of the Santa valley.
It has been recorded in the 88 km Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and at Cuzco. It could be present in neighbouring sites where suitable habitat is present.
It has also been collected in Santiago de Chuco.
It is possible that the species could be found in Protected Areas such as Abiseo and Manu National Park, Tingo Maria National Park in Huanuco, province of Leoncio Prado.

Habitat Type 2

It is found among yuccas on top of stone fences. According to GIS analysis, this species has been collected from areas now categorized as populated forests and residential rainfed mosaic areas. Also occurs in open vegetation sites (such as slopes at the sides of roads), heavily grazed shrublands, and field farm fences.
