The Long-tailed Parakeet (Psittacula longicauda) is a parakeet endemic to the regions of Andaman islands, Nicobar islands, Sumatra, Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. It is allopatric with the congener, the Red-breasted Parakeet, Psittacula alexandri, except in the Andaman islands where they occur together.
It is a common breeding resident in Singapore.
It inhabits gardens and wooded areas.
It is a green parakeet with red face, black throat and long tail. The male has a red bill and more red on face, while the female has a dark bill and less red on face. The juvenile has a dark bill and still less red on face, as well as faint black throat.
