Coho salmon(Oncorhynchus kisutch) are a popular sport fish. Originally from the Pacific Northwest. Now found in the big lakes. Will swim up rivers in the fall to reproduce, then the adults die afterward. A top-level predator that feeds predominantly on fishes and aquatic insects.

How to recognize: Small fleshy fin on the back in front of the tail. Small black dots on the body. Scattered small black dots only on the upper lobe of the tail. Mouth is black, but the gums (area immediately around the teeth) are white to light gray. Up to 3 feet /0.9 meters long.
