Creek chub(Semotilus atromaculatus) are a common species in inland streams. Can live in as little as 1 inch of water. Tolerant of a wide variety of stream habitats and conditions. Eat whatever fits in the mouth and can be the dominant predator in small systems. Sometimes used as bait.
How to recognize: Relatively large mouth that almost extends past rear of eye. Dark blotch at the lower front corner of the fin on the back. Up to 1 foot /0.3 meters long.
