Rare Species - Obscuring locations or making them private

Dear DU wildlife observations project members

Did you know that when making observations on iNaturalist you can choose to obscure an observation?

You can do this on the app by clicking on "Location Visibility : Open" and changing it to "Location visibility : Obscured" or "Private".
It can also be done on desktop by clicking on the "location is visible" drop down option and changing it to "location is obscured" or "location is private".

When obscuring an observation you can chose to make the real coordinates of the species only visible to the project admins (myself and Prof. Steve Willis).

This will assist us in recording the location of rare plant species such as orchids, species prone to being foraged such as edible mushrooms and species prone to being hunted or poached such as badgers.

So if you find such a species on campus, please do remember to obscure it's location!

Best Wishes
