Wrapping up GSB 2024 - how did Lake Mac City fare?

There are still identifications being made, and agreed upon, but we can hold our heads high considering the smaller geographical location covered in the Lake Mac City GSB 2024 project compared to other regions.
The current Lake Mac City tally stands at:

observations (currently 75th)
species (currently top 50 [45th]) and
observers (56th)

If you are interested in checking out what was recorded in other areas across the Southern hemisphere here's the link to the GSB 2024 umbrella project

Thanks everyone - keep popping back to the link to track everyone's records.

Time to upload your observations for inclusion

Thank you to everyone who participated - I hope you enjoyed heading out and recording your observations.
Now is the more tedious side of citizen science - data entry.
Please upload your observations over the next 10 days for inclusion in the project.
The weather this weekend will be conducive to completing this item on your 'to do' list.

The GSB team will advise dates for 2025 as part of the wrap up .
Based on the schedule of the past five years, tentatively pencil in 24-27 October 2025

GSB 2024 update for Lake Mac City

Great to see the observations coming in, keep up the great work everyone! Impressive tally so far @casuarina - you've set the bar high!
That's what we need for this project!
Hopefully there will be many more records and observers adding to the project.
Just a reminder- where possible a couple of images of the individual species in each observation assists with ID [eg any fruit/ nuts or flowers, PLUS leaf structure (both sides) and form zoom out a little to show if it is a clump of grass, small shrub or tree]
Thank you
Need help?
Adding multiple photos to an observation
https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/solutions/articles/151000170775-how-to-turn-multiple-observations-into-one-observation

or multiple observations to a location?
Click select all (all images should now have a green border) then click in location on left, find your location click OK (all observations should now have same location) then unclick select all to go through and identify as best you can.
Any questions send a message to @margo_s for assistance

Personally I find it is easier to upload onto my laptop when there are multiple images as there is more functionality

Looking forward to seeing what everyone observes

Hope you have your cameras and phones charged.
Remember even a few observations in your local bushland, waterway or coastline are all valuable records for the bioblitz project.

Enjoy yourselves.
Margo

Ten days to go!

It's only 10 days until GSB 2024 commences. It runs from 20-23 September and I'm hoping Lake Mac City will have a number of orchid observations this year as the event has moved back to early Spring.

The timing is on triennial rotation (September, October and November ) to accommodate Spring nuances across the three continents. To date 176 areas have registered across 26 countries and participants will be uploading their observations from both day and night.

Are you ready for GSB 2024?

It's only 4 weeks away so consider thinking about a couple of sites you can visit over the four days!
Maybe a couple of reconnaissance visits and practice.
